We set flagstone on a proper base — compacted material underneath so the stones stay put through East Texas summers and the occasional freeze. Every project is built to last, not just to look good on day one.

Set in Sand or Mortar

We dry-set most residential flagstone in compacted sand over a solid base — it allows for slight movement and easy repair. Mortar setting available for permanent high-traffic installations.

How It Works

Our Process

Design & Layout
We walk the site with you, talk through the shape, size, and stone type. You get a clear quote before anything starts.

Excavation
Area is dug out to the right depth for base material plus stone thickness — typically 4–6 inches total.

Base Prep
Compacted road base or caliche layer goes in first. This is what keeps your stones from shifting or sinking.

Sand Bed
A level sand layer is screeded over the base — this gives each stone a perfect, adjustable seat.
05
Stone Setting
Stones are laid, leveled, and fitted together. Gaps filled with decomposed granite, sand, or polymeric sand.
06
Clean Finish
Edges trimmed, surroundings cleaned up, and the finished surface checked for level and stability before we leave.
